Saturday 18 June saw a very successful club tournament. Twenty two members took part in a skillfully arranged set of matches. Kevin Clausner organized the tournament and many congratulations are due to him. Gazebos were set up and the bench which is a memorial to Dan Burke was brought out. The eventual winners from a keenly fought final were Mary Ward and Colin Wilson. This was followed by a cold lunch which members contributed to.  A highly successful day was enjoyed by all. League and Cup Success
Charmouth LTC has retained their winning streak in the Yeovil and District Tennis League this summer. Members of the Ladies', Mixed and Men's Teams The newly formed Ladies team had an excellent inaugural summer winning Division 4 very comfortably beating their closest rivals at Bridport by 14 points. The Men’s team also won Division 4 with an untroubled run of successes and the Mixed team made a good showing to finish third in Division 3. As a result of theses successes, Charmouth were also awarded the Modbury Cup for achieving the highest combined average score in the whole summer league.…

Fun Tournament and BBQ
After a couple of cancelations we had a successful fun tournament and with no rain! On Saturday 21st Aug, between two storms, 24 members played mixed doubles, changing partners every 20 minutes. The final between Mary Ward /Bob Brooker & Haze Luscombe & Ed Crafter was won by the latter with bottles of wine for the winners presented by our chairman Michael Sheppard. The barbeque (cooked by 'non-celebrity' chef Tim!) followed and the sun even came out for us. This year the club have three doubles teams competing in the Yeovil & District 2021 Summer League. Please note: during home matches, two courts will be reserved at 6pm for the league matches. The courts normally used are, the main court adjacent to the clubhouse, and the court adjacent to the Community Hall. We are pleased to confirm that as part of the 'roadmap' our tennis courts will re-open on March 29th - next Monday! Both doubles and singles matches are permitted. The clubhouse use is limited to accessing tennis balls and signing the book only, but the loos can be used. Social distancing and the 2 metres rule will still apply with no socialising before or after play. Charmouth Tennis Club plans to open on 29th March 2021 Great news, the government has announced its roadmap for easing restrictions to the current Covid lockdown. Outdoor tennis will be permitted from 29th March 2021. It is likely that when the club re-opens we shall be able to play both singles and doubles. The LTA have issued a provisional Summary Grid showing the permitted tennis from 29th March. We are sorry to say that our tennis courts are now closed due to the new Government Restrictions announced on Jan 4. As you will see from the statement below from the LTA, they are lobbying the government to re-open tennis ASAP and we will of course let you know as soon as anything changes. Dorset has now moved into Tier 3: Very High alert. This does not mean any significant changes to the current Covid-19 advice and the club remains open as before. However, Covid-19 travel restrictions into or out of our area now apply.
